Shakey’s have one of the best Mojos. These round potato slices have been a child’s best friend and eating it as an adult just brings you back to the stress free days. But what’s so special about these potato slices is the breading that gives you the amazing crispiness.

Well, this recipe gives you the exact same flavors and crispiness that Shakey’s have been giving us since day one. And it also shows you the exact amount of minutes to fry these little circles of yumminess so you have the perfect crunch on the outside and still have the softness of the potatoes inside. Try this recipe now!

Ingredients:

  • 4 potatoes, sliced into ¼” rounds
  • 2 packs Ferna all-purpose breading mix (alternative: Mert’s Chicken Breading)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cooking oil, for deep frying
  • Lady’s Choice Caesar or ranch dressing

Cooking Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and water. Set aside.
  2. Clean potatoes and slice into ¼” round, then put them straight into the egg-water mixture to soak.
  3. Heat oil until 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Coat potato slices with breading and deep fry in batches for 3-4 minutes. Drain in kitchen towel after to absorb excess oil.
  5. Transfer to serving plate and serve with either Caesar or ranch dressing.

Ingredients:
  • 4 bacon strips, finely chopped
  • 2 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 40 g mozzarella, cut into small strips
  • 1 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 5 tbs oil

Cooking Instructions:

  • Heat non stick frying pan over medium heat and cook bacon 3-4 minutes or until crisp.
  • Combine mashed potato, egg yolk, onion, bacon and ¼ cup of flour in a large bowl.
  • Roll heaped tablespoons of mixture into strips. Push one cheese cube into the centre of each strip, molding mixture around to enclose the cheese.
  • Place remaining flour on a plate and breadcrumbs on another plate.
  • Whisk milk and egg together and place in a shallow bowl.
  • Roll croquettes in flour shaking off any excess. Dip in egg mixture then coat in breadcrumbs.
  • Heat oil in frying pan.
  • Cook croquettes in batches then transfer to a plate lined with paper towel and serve hot.

Ingredients:
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 1  1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 piece egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups cooking oil

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Break up the onion slices into rings. Set aside.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, in a small bowl and mix well.
  3. Dredge the onions on the flour mixture and set aside.
  4. Meanwhile, make the batter by adding the egg and milk on the flour mixture and whisk.
  5. Dip the onions on the batter and allow the extra batter to drip.
  6. Place the breadcrumbs in a plastic bag or container and put-in the onions rings.
  7. Heat a cooking pot and pour-in cooking oil.
  8. When the oil is hot, deep-fry the onion until the color turns golden brown (usually 2 minutes or so).
  9. Remove the onion rings from the cooking pot and place in a plate lined with paper towels, to absorb the excess oil.
  10. Transfer to a serving plate and serve.
  11. Share and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 10-15 lumpia wrappers
  • 100 grams (3.5 oz.) cheddar cheese
  • oil for deep frying
  • water for sealing lumpia wrappers

  1. Steam the lumpia wrappers for about 2 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Slice the cheese into 10-15 sticks, each about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Put each stick in a lumpia wrapper. Seal each.

  • 1 package of ground beef (the amount is up to you)
  • 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 envelope of taco seasoning, about 1 ounce
  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag of plain tortilla chips

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Heat oven to 350°.
  2. Cook ground beef in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Add all ingredients but the cheddar cheese and chips to the pot and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. While it is simmering, pour the chips into a casserole dish.
  4. Spread hot mixture over the chips; sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top and put in the oven for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.

Ah, nachos. There is no limit to with what you can do with them. This dish originated from the Northern regions of Mexico, and the gods have heard our prayers and delivered the nachos right to our doorstep. Usually served as snacks, you can have this treat any time of the day.

Sink your teeth into layers of savory ground pork, onion, cucumber, delicious melted cheese and whatever else you feel like putting on those nacho chips. Add your own Pinoy twist with this Pinoy Style Nachos recipe now!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kl ground pork
  • 1 pc. cucumber (cut into tidbits)
  • 3 pcs. tomatoes ( cut into small pieces)
  • 1 small pouch cheese spread (put in a small plastic for easy spreading)
  • 1 small pouch mayonnaise (put in a plastic for easy spreading)
  • Pack of Nachos
  • 300 gms lettuce or cabbage (cut into small pieces)
  • Garlic, onion, and salt

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Saute garlic, onion and ground pork, add salt to taste. Set aside.
  2. In a plate put some Nachos, add tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce/cabbage.
  3. Add sauteed ground pork.
  4. Spread with mayo and cheese.
  5. (Optional) Add some grated cheese on top.

  • 2 (6 inch) tortillas
  • 1/2 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup al pastor pork
  • 1/4 cup pineapple, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon pineapple salsa (the salsa used to make the al pastor pork)
  • 1 tablespoon sweet onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, torn

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat.
  2. Place one tortilla in the pan, sprinkle on half of the cheese, top with the pork, pineapple, salsa, onion, cilantro and the remaining cheese.
  3. Fold the tortilla in half coving the filling and cook until the quesadilla is golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted, about 2-4 minutes per side.

Option: Grill the pineapple slices before cutting into small pieces.Option: Serve with pineapple guacamole for dipping: Mix 1 large mashed avocado with 1/4 cup chopped pineapple, 1 tablespoon lime juice and a pinch of salt.

Ingredients:
  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 1-2 bell peppers
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tbsp of oil
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • ½ package cream cheese with garlic and herbs
  • 100 g of the ham strips
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • sesame seeds for the top

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 180 degrees C convection.
  2. Cut the peppers into strips and chop the garlic. Put it in a bag together with the salt and the oil. Shake well and come on a baking sheet with baking paper. Put it in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until the peppers are a little black at the tips.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry and divide into 4 equal squares. Butter out the piquant cheese on one half of the square on all of them. Spread the ham on top of the cheese and finally the peppers.
  4. Beat an egg lightly and brush the edges. Then fold up the other half of the filling and use a fork to seal them. Brush the top with egg and sprinkle some sesame on.
  5. Put them on a baking sheet with baking paper and bake in the oven for about 12 minutes or until golden.
